Lithgow Community Power Project is hosting an information session and community discussion on Thursday 20 February, 6 pm at the Workies.
A plan to bring the idle Lithgow Locomotive Workshop and Yards back into operation and ignite an engineering renewal for Lithgow
National Trade Union Secretaries, Steve Murphy (National Manufacturing Workers Union), and Alex Claasens (Rail Tram & Bus Union), will share their thoughts about the exciting jobs and industry project.
Both have Lithgow backgrounds. They know how important it would be for the district and how to make it happen.
Mick McGrath will talk about his experience in the loco yard when it was in its heyday and what it could mean for local jobs in Lithgow today.
Transport Planning Specialist, Dr Michelle Ziebots (University of Technology Sydney), will outline a detailed plan for revitalising the workshops.
The railway has been part of our local history and can be part of our present and future. With the loco yard and workshop open again it can pave the way for local industry to take up the challenge. With government funding from State and Federal levels we can get the project moving.”
